Entrusted Hearts Home Care Services

January 2023

Senior adults are the fastest growing segment of the population, and with this, comes an increasing need for aging adult care services. The demand for home care services will increase as the number of aging adults in our state increases.

In-home care assistance supports the desire for many older adults to age-in-place, and it reduces the stress family members that may currently be providing care to their loved ones. Caring for a family member can mean juggling work and other obligations.

Entrusted Hearts Home Care Services, a division of Baptist Village Communities, is a licensed home care services provider and medical equipment company offering in-home care and services many aging adults need and want. The Entrusted Hearts team is available to assist you or a loved one in reaching and maintaining the highest possible level of independence in the comfort of your home.

Shawna Parsley, Entrusted Hearts Office Manager in Owasso explains that most people are unsure of what services they need when they initially call the office. Shawna explains, “I ask a lot of questions about what’s going on currently and what their situation is like.” Based on this information, it is determine if a Certified Home Health Aide or Companion Services would be best.

Certified Home Health Aides are trained and certified to provide hands-on care for activities of daily living. Examples include bathing, dressing, feeding, etc. A person’s need for assistance with these activities increases with age, and according to AARP, seventy-seven percent of adults age 50+ want to remain in their current home as they age.

Companion Services offers a “hands off” approach of in-home care. Companion Services or “companions” can provide housekeeping, laundry, and errands. Errands can include taking clients to doctors appointments, shopping for groceries, etc. “Certified Home Health Aides are able to do all of these things as well, but they also provide the hands-on care clients might need,” says Shawna.

Director of Entrusted Hearts, Shannon Ryan, clarifies that both Certified Home Health Aides and Companion Services are available for overnight stays and respite services. The difference is in what each is allowed to do. If your loved one tends to wander around the house at night and you fear for their safety, a Certified Home Health Aide could lead them back to bed whereas a companion is “hands off” and could not. Our team is here to help you make the best decision of what’s needed for you or a loved one.
